In 2025, the performance of NAND Flash and DRAM will be different.
In 2024, the market size of NAND Flash will reach 70 billion US dollars, with a total capacity of 833 billion GB. This year, the average selling price (ASP) has decreased, and it is expected that the market size will decrease. As NAND Flash prices return to rationality in 2025, it will encourage more companies to promote high-capacity products and maintain the stable and healthy development of the industry.
The pattern of DRAM will change in 2025, and currently HBM accounts for nearly 30% of the entire DRAM industry. Last year, the HBM consumption of server memory exceeded that of smartphones, and it is expected that this trend will continue to deepen this year. Due to the increase in HBM shipments, the DRAM market is expected to reach an equivalent of 288 billion GB by 2025.
In addition, the demand for large capacity storage has prompted the early arrival of the QLC era, and there may even be a shortage of QLC products in 2024. According to the Chinese flash memory market, QLC production capacity is expected to account for about 20% of the total storage capacity in the future. At present, there is a large-scale production of 32TB QLC SSDs in the enterprise class, and the demand for 64TB and 128TB is increasing. It is expected that more than 45% of QLC products will be used in servers by 2025.
In addition to being applied on servers and PCs, mobile QLC applications will also see breakthroughs in 2025, with more phones starting to be equipped with 512GB or even 1TB QLC UFS. Tai Wei commented that these changes have quickly lifted the storage market out of the haze in 2024, and set a historical high in production and growth rate. The size of the storage market has reached $167 billion, and it is expected to continue to grow in 2025.
